Our Story

FB4K Minneapolis gave away 300 bikes during their first year in 2008. Since then, FB4K has given away over 50,000 bikes to kids through affiliates across the country. The momentum continues to grow, as new regions are launching each year.

Since 2018  FB4K collections have happened in Portland. Generous donors provided 340 bikes, the first year and we were able to distribute the majority of those to kids in the community. The rest we recycled, thereby keeping material out of landfills.

In 2021 we collected 650 bicycles and 2022 found us expanding the number of drop off sites and a momentum with partnership groups  giving us  over 3,000 bikes. 2023…5,000 bikes and becoming a partnership program of  Reborn Bikes. We’re excited to be part of a regional administrative hub that supports 6 kindred groups across the northwest. We have shifted to a year round collection, refurbishment and distribution model. Will you join us for the ride?

Mission & Purpose

Free Bikes 4 Kidz is a non-profit organization geared toward helping all kids ride into a happier, healthier childhood by providing bikes to those most in need. The public donates gently used bikes, we organize volunteers to clean and refurbish them, and then we give them away to kids in need.

Our Method

Every year 25 million bikes are sold in the US. One-third of those bikes are 20” wheel-size, or smaller. Since kids grow like weeds, over 8 million bikes are virtually outgrown each year. Endless supply. Sustainability.bikecircle

Our Partners

Though the generous help of key partners like Providence Sports Medicine, Rotary, The LDS church, Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club and WashCo Bikes. FB4Kidz continues to grow, but we still need support in building the foundation to help every kid ride into a more memorable childhood.
